Steve Wyse, who founded Granite in 1997, along with his son Matt, have made Granite into a successful company with a wide portfolio of innovative and durable products. DSS has always been close to the Wyse family due to friendships and partnerships over the years. When the opportunity came up to discuss being acquired by a larger company, DSS was at the top of the list.
The acquisition is one where both sides truly feel that the future is brighter together. Granite will be more equipped to provide scaffolding and related components for large scale jobs in the Midwest. Direct Scaffold benefits from Granite’s strong domestic manufacturing capabilities and broad product line. Together DSS and Granite plan to expand production and further invest in growth markets.

Granite is a major manufacturer of frame scaffold, carts and dollies and staging equipment that adds significant breadth to DSS’s robust product offering. Granite was founded in 1997 by Steve Wyse. Steve and his team have built a solid reputation over 26 years as a highly innovative and high-quality domestic equipment manufacturer.
Granite has expanded from a frame and utility scaffolding manufacturer to other innovative lines of business, including powered carts and wheelbarrows for numerous industrial, commercial and agricultural applications sold under the Overland Carts trade name. Granite’s “Power Snappy” units set the standard for electric powered mobile scaffold units for acoustic ceiling, sheet rock and electric wiring applications.
